First official hive newsletter:

welcome to the hive!

community support activism

It’s our very first email and we are so happy and honored to have you join this group! Like we said on Instagram and on the website - this is a group to collaborate and coordinate - to learn and help each other - to scream, cry and cause some good trouble. We will offer ways to be involved at your comfort level and give you tools to calm your mind and nerves.

From mediation to activation - we have the right skillsets in our crew!

Our current format will be a weekly email and a monthly meet-up.

In the weekly email you’ll find a list of elected officials currently either being outstanding or causing waves - good and bad - along with their mailing address. Some members of the House and Senate won’t allow you to email them if you’re not one of their constituents - but you can USPS them postcards or letters. You can always call too - we will provide a phone number.

Next you will find a list of upcoming local area marches, protests or political gatherings - you’ll get dates, time and location and we will try to link the organizing group as well. We can discuss carpools and team road trips at the meet-up. Protests and marches can be intimidating for some - we have veterans in this group, and we can go as a team - or as a hive!

Last but not least, you will get a couple of ideas of how to declutter your mind, ease the chaos, somatically shake out the tension - meditate and relax. Our massage therapist and yogi will provide us with a few tricks and moves to take the edge off.

Our first meet-up will be Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30pm

Go to www.thehivenapa.com and click on EVENTS, then MORE INFO, then RSVP for the MEET-UP - we’d love to be ready for any size group.

Easy Ways To Ease Your Mind

5 Minute chill out…

Take some time to step away from the computer, laptop, or smart phone!  When you feel your thoughts spinning, when you can’t find your focus, when your anxiety is at its all-time high – give yourself a break, it only takes 5 minutes!

Set a 5-minute timer.

Start by finding a comfortable seat, somewhere you can plant your feet solidly on the ground (floor) beneath you.

Focus on the soles of your feet and bring your awareness to the sensation of your feet planting into the ground.

Visualize that you are growing roots out of the soles of your feet, and that those roots are digging deep into the ground. With each breath, imagine those roots reaching farther and spreading deeper into the earth.

Begin to scan your body by bringing your awareness first to the feet, lower legs, upper legs, etc., all the way to the crown of your head.

Hold your awareness at the crown of your head.  Imagine that with each inhale you are breathing in light through the top of your head. With each exhale, imagine the breath running down from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet, like a waterfall of breath washing over you, and releasing into the ground through your roots.

Repeat this inhale/exhale cycle for several rounds or until the timer goes off.

Feel refreshed, grounded, and calm.
